  1. 422 The Abbey of St-Germain d'Auxerre was founded by Germain l'Auxerrois, who owned the village of Irancy

  2. 861 First written record of vines in Irancy

    On September 14th, 861, Charles II, known as "the Bald", confirmed the donation of the "Vaupaisseau" (Veaupessiot) vineyard parcel to the St-Germain Abbey in Auxerre.

  3. 1100 Early 12th century

    - The monks of Reigny Abbey, which became Cystercian in 1127, built a cellar which gave its name to the town of Vincelottes


    - Selection of grape varieties and the terroirs are beginning to be defined
     

    
 

  4. 1395 Philippe II, known as "the Bold", prohibits the cultivation of the Gamay grape variety in favor of Pinot Noir throughout Burgundy

  5. 1580 Birth of the first family winemaker, Bonnet Bienvenu

  6. 1713 Birth of Jacques-Germain Soufflot in Irancy, famous architect of the Pantheon

  7. 1823 First Napoleon cadastre (427 ha of vines in the current appellation area)

  8. 1850 Between 1850 and 1920

    Long crisis in the vineyards or Irancy and Auxerrois: appearance oh the railway, beginning of the rural exodus, crisis of the powdery mildew (1854), root rot (1857), war of 1870, mildew and phylloxera (1882).

    The vineyard has almost disappeared

    In 1900: the vineyard of Auxerrois and Irancy is replanted, 200 hectares of vines.

    In 1920: 120 hectares of vines in Irancy

    

 

  9. 1930 December 24th

    The Civil Court of Auxerre grants the Bougogne Irancy appellation to red wines produced in the commune of Irancy.

    In 1937, creation of the Bourgogne appellation, of which Irancy is one.
